Here’s what we found this week.


  1. A Nurse Woke Up from Beirut Blast Holding Three Babies Whose Lives She Saved

The photo was taken shortly after the blast rocked the medical center… According to the photographer, the nurse was surrounded by dozens of bodies wounded or killed in the blast. The unidentified nurse told Jawich that when the blast hit she was in the maternity ward and it left her unconscious. When she woke up, she found herself carrying these three children.

“Millions of ‘ground-breaking’ rapid coronavirus tests will be rolled out to hospitals, care homes and labs across the UK to increase testing capacity ahead of winter. The tests will enable clinicians and the NHS to quickly test and trace to stop any future spread of the virus.”

4. Efforts to combat child labour heightened after rescue of child workers in Indian garment factory

“In one of the first cases of child labour reported in India since the pandemic, 32 girls and three boys were rescued in Tiruppur in Tamil Nadu state last week following a tip-off to staff at Childline, a toll-free emergency helpline for children.”
